Tips for Applicants

The application form will be forwarded to you electronically by your nominating teacher. Please complete the application in single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, save it as a .pdf file, and email it to the chair of the Foundation's board at pmaseman@wcpss.net by the specified deadline. Transcripts must accompany the application and also be sent as a .pdf file. Wake County students can order transcripts via the website https://wcpss.scriborder.com and should indicate the "Philip Watts Foundation Scholarship" in the special instructions portion of the request. Please ensure that your nominating teacher sends the electronic recommendation on time as well. Incomplete applications cannot be considered.

After careful review of all applications and supporting materials, the Foundation selection committee will hold interviews on a Saturday approximately one week after applications fall due. You will be notified by email as to the time and venue of your interview. The interview will last about half an hour. The interviewers' questions will address your past experience with German and your future plans. Expect several questions in German, to be answered in German.

Should you have any questions as to the application process, contact Mr. Maseman by email or by telephone at 919.341.9694.
